Inner Tie Rod Boot Clamp Removal

Only do this if you are replacing both inner and outer tie rod ends.

Channel locks or a pipe wrench won t work to remove a pt cruiser s inner tie rod ends you need to use a tool like this. 7 bend the locking plate tabs away from the flats on the inner joint housing. There is another tool out there that s a long cylinder with three screws that clamp down on the inner tie rod however it wouldn t have worked in my case bent inner tie rod. 6 pull the boot off the steering rack and outward on the tie rod to expose the inner tie rod joint.
So i decided to make a video showing you folks what the clamp looks. 5 remove the clamps on the rack boot by grasping the mushroom pinch crimp with diagonal or flush end cutters and twisting cutting. Assume that the hub has been unbolted from the car already using the 12 pt. Next take a pair of pliers and remove the clamp from the boot on the inside end of the inner tie rod end.
You will need to remove the pinch nut. Remove the boot from the inner tie rod end.
